We have carefully scheduled the program so that there is exactly 25
minutes per presentation. Presenters should prepare a 20 minute
talk, and expet 5 minutes of questions from the
attendees. Session chairs will be instructed to enfore these time
limits.
At the conference, we will have a projector to attach to
laptops. We will also have a WINDOWS 2000 laptop available with
powerpointXP, acroread, and postscript, that can read from floppies
and cdroms. But that laptop will not have internet access. It also
will not be running linux.
We will also have a single overhead projector to present
transparencies. We don't believe at this time that we will have the
ability to run the digital projector for laptops and the
transparency/overhead project simultaneously.
When you arrive at the conference, please find your session chair as
soon as possible. Please provide to them your name (it's not always
clear which author is presenting) and your affiliation so they can
introduce you.
If you are flying to the conference, we strongly reccommend
that you do not place your presentation in your checked
luggage. Carry your laptop on the plane so that it is not lost.
Bring a transparency, cdrom, or floppy backup; plenty of latops
break during travel.
Presenters who have less experience presenting are encouraged to
practice their talk in front of a live audience. Please be sure to
use a large enough font (slides that can be read by an entire
audience typically have room for about 5 bulleted items).
After the conference, if you would like to send your
presentation materials to us, we are happy to post them on this web
site.
At NGC 2002 there will be an award for the Best Student
Presentation! The award will be presented at the closing session of
the conference. Please do your best.
